Overall Summary:

The truth was that Alana had screwed up, and screwed up royally.  Her impulsive and caustic personality had not only endangered herself, but also those she loved, and the people at FLC.  But firing her simply wasn’t an option.  So now she’s being transformed; she has a new face, a new name, and a new assignment.  To get her ready, Jag, one of the sexiest black ops person she has ever seen is duty bound to get her into shape.  Turns out you can’t simply run away– from danger, or from love.

Overall Impressions:

This book has a lot of great things going for it.  First, it’s depiction of the BDSM culture is a nice change of pace.  It is shown to be a real sexual preference between informed consensual adults, and thankfully the word “master” isn’t seen anywhere in the book!  I also enjoyed how the author showed the difference between a good domme/sub relationship and a bad one.  Not to mention that the erotica was very well written.

It also has well-developed characters that the reader can relate to, even when they are doing unspeakable things.  It was nice to see, especially since there are quite a few books in this genre, even popular ones, that seem to lack significant character development.

I will say, though, that I would have liked to see a bit more development on the plot side of things.  The story line felt a bit rushed, almost like the author wanted me to hurry through the book and go out and buy the next one in the series to get the “real” story.  There were a number of action sequences that I would have loved to see more detail but was only given a sentence or two.  I realize that using my imagination is a good thing, but there are limits.

Overall, though, it was a decent read, and if I see a book by this author again, I would probably consider making a purchase.  If you’re looking for a book that shows a realistic, and mature look at the BDSM community and culture, this is a great choice.
