Sam Petrie has taken a lot of risks in his life as an ex-cop, but none of them has been so disastrous, so dangerous, and so deadly as falling madly in love with Svetlana Ardova. Through her battle against the illegal slave trade, Svetlana had become a target of some very lethal, people, and the stakes for survival grow higher with every moment. Sam knows that the only way to convince Svetlana that his love is for real is to protect her and to become her bodyguard on her trip to Italy. A trip where dangers and passion erupt in a white hot explosion.
If you are looking for a book filled with passionate sex, struggling relationships, insanely stubborn characters trying to sort through their feelings in a backdrop of some of the most horrific backdrops imaginable, this is a breath-taking book. The descriptions, imagery and characters are so detailed and so realistic that they almost take on a surreal quality.
Sadly, the actual plot left a bit to be desired– not because it was unbelievable or boring- very far from it. No, what was missing from the plot was that for a good portion of the book, very little of it existed, being replaced for the most part by passionate fights and makeup sex between the main characters. It wasn’t until the last third of the book where the plot was adequately revealed. However, those instances where the plot made an appearance, it’s laser focus was refreshing and very well written.
