Renee Owens

It all started with a steam-punked Atari in the early 1980s

It was the early 1980s and I was just 5 years old, one of my stepmother’s friends merged the components of an Atari 2600 onto the motherboard of one of the first computerized typewriters with a wooden case. It was then that my interest was sparked in coding when we created our own video games.

Over the years my interest has waned and been rekindled multiple times until the year 2000, with the advent of Blogger, where I again fell in love with coding and web-design. All through college, while I studied Journalism, Mass communications, and marketing, I moonlighted as a front-end web-designer, redesigning blog themes and building functionality into blogs and websites. All the while I wrote mostly non-fiction content for small companies. In 2011 I made the move into WordPress design, and found a happy medium between front-end and back-end coding.

My following grew until coding projects outnumbered content writing projects ten to one. It was then, in 2015, that I decided to redefine my careers and pursue formal training in web development. Now I live my passion in web design and game modification. Though, I still enjoy writing and blogging both fiction and non-fiction.
